- In the event of a burst water pipe, turn off the water supply by closing the stopcock or the main valve. This may involve two valves (for cold and hot water).
- Disconnect the power supply to any electronic equipment in the danger zone.
- Try to prevent the water from spreading and, if required, catch water in containers.
- Carefully remove your works of art and collectibles and any other valuable items to a dry environment.
- If you cannot readily move the items to a safe place, put them as high as possible in order to prevent direct contact with water. You can, for example, use blocks of wood, foil or polystyrene boards to do this.
- Appoint a plumbing company immediately to repair the broken water pipe so that no more leaking water can damage your property.
